Sandbox VR to open in Crocker Park – cleveland.com

Sandbox VR, which offers multiple virtual-reality entertainment experiences, is scheduled to open next week in Crocker Park in Westlake.
WESTLAKE, Ohio – Sandbox VR, a full-body virtual-reality entertainment experience, has scheduled a grand opening of its first Northeast Ohio location next week.
Sandbox VR is set to open Friday, Dec. 16, in Crocker Park in Westlake.
It is billed as a “socially immersive gaming experience” that combines full-body motion capture. The entertainment space features four “holodecks,” private rooms for virtual-reality gameplay. Each one enables groups of up to six players to explore virtual worlds while relying on each other to succeed. Players are equipped with a headset, haptic vest, backpack and sensors on their wrists and ankles. The folks at Sandbox say the technology will allow players to feel as if they are in the middle of an action movie.
Six immersive experiences are available:
• Deadwood Valley – Zombie fighting.
• Deadwood Mansion – More zombies.
• Curse of Davy Jones – Fight supernatural creatures on the high seas and hunt for Davy Jones’ treasure.
• Amber Sky 2088 – Fight as androids equipped with futuristic weapons while you soar through the clouds on a space elevator and defend Earth from an alien invasion.
• Star Trek: Discovery – Become a Starfleet Officer and beam down to explore alien worlds.
• UFL: Unbound Fighting League – Transform into a futuristic gladiator and compete in duels.
After playing, guests receive personalized highlight videos that are similar to movie trailers.
Sandbox VR has locations in 15 states plus Europe and Asia. Ohio’s other two are in Cincinnati and Columbus.
