Sharks NFTs – Informational Guide | San Jose Sharks – NHL.com
Introducing Sharks NFTs!
Starting with the 2022-23 season, fans can earn, collect, and exchange exclusive sets of Sharks NFTs by attending games and engaging with other opportunities throughout the year. Don’t miss out on these one-of-a-kind collectibles that will not only add to your NFT collection but earn fans the opportunity to unlock additional benefits.
The Sharks will be working with Ticketmaster and issuing attendance-based NFTs at the following home games at the SAP Center:
What are NFTs?
A NFT (Non-Fungible Token) is a unique, digital item with authentic blockchain-managed ownership. This means a digital collectible can be confirmed as unique at any time by looking it up on the blockchain. Examples of NFTs include digital art collectibles, virtual reality items, ownership records for physical assets, and more. For more in-depth background about NFTs click here.
What is a Blockchain?
A blockchain is a decentralized, distributed, and public digital ledger (like a database) that stores transactions, ownership records, and NFTs. At Sharks Sports and Entertainment (SSE), we activate all distributed NFTs on the “Flow” blockchain. For more in-depth background about Blockchain click here.
What is the environmental impact?
Ticketmaster selects eco-friendly, energy-efficient blockchains with a low carbon footprint. Minting (which basically means creating) an NFT on the “Flow” blockchain requires less energy than a Google search.
What are the Sharks NFTs that are planned?
Fans who attend select San Jose Sharks games (reference full game list above) at SAP Center during the course of the regular season will be eligible to receive a digital collectible at no cost. The designs of tokens will vary, and each will have a special dedicated theme affiliated with the respective game.
Who is eligible to receive an attendance-based Sharks NFT?
Each fan who scans into the SAP Center using a Ticketmaster SafeTix (secure barcode) ticket at NFT-eligible games will receive a digital collectible via email. However, please note one (1) NFT will be limited per Ticketmaster account regardless of how many tickets are on the individual’s account.
Going to the game with friends or family who want their own NFT? Before scanning your tickets into the game, send (transfer) each person their individual ticket to use on their own personal Ticketmaster account. When they scan their ticket from their account, they’ll receive the commemorative NFT delivered to their email address too.
What if I miss a game and no one uses my ticket, do I still receive a Sharks NFT?
No. Each NFT is exclusively created for those who attend the game on each respective date. Hence, we strongly advise that if you are unable to attend, you transfer your ticket to someone who can go in your place.
What is the significance of collecting Sharks NFTs?
Do you know how people always say they were at the Game 7 comeback against the Golden Knights in 2019 or at Timo Meier’s franchise record five-goal game last season? Well, your Sharks NFT is authentic proof of displaying you were at the Shark Tank for some of the most historic nights of the season.
Plus, there will be opportunities to unlock Sharks-related rewards at the end of the season for those who collect multiple Sharks NFTs.
How do I receive and claim my Sharks NFTs?
Access to the digital collectible will be made available via a link emailed to eligible recipients following a qualifying entry scan. In order to access your collectible(s), please take the following steps:
How quickly should I receive my Sharks NFT after ticket scan at entry gate?
Your Sharks NFT will typically be delivered within two (2) hours of the ticket scan.
I scanned my Sharks365 member entry card at gate entrance to SAP Center, how come I did not receive my Sharks NFT?
Sharks365 member entry cards do not contain the necessary data for live NFT distribution. All entry card admittance is tracked and an NFT claim link will be emailed to you directly from Ticketmaster to accept your NFT within seven (7) days after game date.
My Ticketmaster digital ticket was scanned at gate entrance to SAP Center but I did not receive my Sharks NFT. Who do I contact?
Please contact Ticketmaster NFT Marketplace Support team at NFTSupport@ticketmaster.com and send a screenshot image of your digital game ticket within the email message.
How do I send my Sharks NFT to someone else?
When signed into your account and viewing your collection, click on the collectible you would like to transfer.
Click on the “Give” button, and when the modal appears, please enter the email address of your desired recipient, and then click the “Give” button once more to confirm the transfer.
Your recipient will receive an email notifying them that they have been sent a collectible. They will need to click the “Accept” button in that email and sign in with their Ticketmaster account in order to complete the transfer.
If your recipient does not accept the transfer, the collectible will remain under your ownership until they do.
