ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said during his State of Downtown Address that the metaverse will help Orlando grow over the next three decades.
Dyer talked a lot about infrastructure and how the metaverse can help Orlando realize its projects.
A lot of people in the crowd met Dyer with blank stares, but he connected the dots quickly on how the metaverse could help the city with infrastructure by laying out those plans first in the virtual world, then expanding.
Dyer described the metaverse as “the virtual world in which people live, work, shop and interact with others, all from the comfort of the physical world.”

He talked about progress that had been made so far with Creative Village, which is just finishing up phase one.
Dyer also said he hopes to see a high-speed transit system in Orlando someday.

“The value of this digital twin is, it’s able to simulate changes we want to make to the real world before we make them so we can see their impacts,” Dyer said.
The rail system and the metaverse can be used “as a public resource allowing transportation experts to see how a rail system might impact the region, or for utility companies to map out 5G networks, or for your colleges to study the potential impacts of climate change.”
Dyer also teased a possible announcement coming soon about the next steps for Creative Village and the MetaCenter.
